Choosing Your TV Stand by TV Size
Television Screens are measured diagonally from corner to corner, this dimension is not usually the same as the actual dimension of the television frame, bezel, or housing as measured by actual width, height, and depth. It is important when choosing the right furniture for your television that both of these dimensions and weight requirement are considered. All of our TV Stands are measured by overall width x height x depth with the actual width in the product name, so a 60" (inch) TV Stand is 60 inches wide.
To choose a new TV stand first measure the overall width of your TV including the frame, bezel, and housing and then match the width of the TV to the corresponding width of the TV stand. Of course you can put a smaller TV on a larger stand, but it it not recommended to put a larger TV on a smaller stand....
Probably the most important factor in choosing your new TV stand is the size of the TV you are putting on it and how much room you will need for other components and devices.
Our TV Stand categories are broken down into 6 size groups: Under 30" Wide, 31" to 40" Wide, 41" to 50" Wide, 51 to 60" Wide, 61" to 70" Wide , & 71" plus.
Giant TVs (60" or Larger diagonally)
Measured diagonally across the screen Larger Screen TVs are becoming ever more popular as new technologies emerge and prices drop. TVs over 51" are almost always Plasma, LCD, LED, or DLP. If you have a large TV, regardless of the type, it is essential that you choose a TV stand that will fit your TV. Chances are that large TV was quite expensive and choosing an appropriate TV Stand should almost be considered an insurance policy to protect it against accidents.
Large TVs (50" to 60" diagonally)
Measured diagonally across the screen Larger Screen TVs are becoming ever more popular as new technologies emerge and prices drop. TVs over 51" are almost always Plasma, LCD, LED, or DLP. If you have a large TV, regardless of the type, it is essential that you choose a TV stand that will fit your TV. Chances are that large TV was quite expensive and choosing an appropriate TV Stand should almost be considered an insurance policy to protect it against accidents.
Midsize TVs (30"to 50" diagonally)
Measured diagonally across the screen Midsize TVs have a little more flexibility when it comes to choosing the right TV stand. As before, the same rules apply. Make sure that the TV stand you buy is not too small. Some CRT TVs are in this size bracket and it is important that the TV stand you choose accommodate all aspects of what constitutes the size of a TV.
Small TVs (Less than 30" diagonally)
Small TVs, regardless of the type, can usually perform and look great on all TV stands. You might even want to consider some of the larger TV stands, that can support not only your smaller TV, but also additional A/V components and/or some home decor items.
